Supporting local restaurants while feeding local families
apdinnertable.org
Abury Park Dinner Table is the creation of four individuals: Kathy Kelly, Julie Andreola, Giuseppe Grillo, and Allison Kolarik, who came together back in early March and took action when the pandemic first hit New Jersey and specifically Asbury Park.
In an effort to feed a struggling community and help keep the restaurants afloat, which are a vital part of Asbury Park, this team quickly pooled their resources and in no time at all did something amazing.
They created a non-profit, designed a website, logo and branding, reached out to the religious community to establish at partnership that would provide distribution locations throughout the City, and had a host of restaurants ready to go when the program rolled out on March 19th.
In just five weeks APDT has grown tremendously, serving over 10,000 meals to local churches: Second Baptist Church, United Fellowship Baptist Church, and St. Stephens AMEZ. Also receiving meals are members of the Monmouth County Boys & Girls Club, and our Seniors in Asbury Tower and Phillip Seaview Tower.
The efforts of everyone involved are impressive and commendable, from the founders and the volunteers, to the large organizations who made donations like Asbury Park Now, (iStar) and Sackman Enterprises at the $10,000.+ level. And many other generous donors offering denominations of $100. to $1000. and $5000. Over 400 donations have been made to date from the Asbury Park community.
Asbury Park Dinner Table, a NJ 501(c)(3) nonprofit, was created to address, mitigate, and reverse the economic and food crisis we are experiencing due to the COVID-19 pandemic by supporting local restaurants while feeding our neighbors.
But we need your help. We all need each other so much right now. Please consider a $30 gift so that we can purchase packaged dinner meals from local Asbury Park eateries and have them delivered to Asbury Park families who are in need the most. The need continues to grow and sustained funding is urgent. Your donation will not only help keep Asbury Park restaurants open and thriving, it will feed Asbury Park families.
Donate today. Donate what you can. Donate for yourself. Donate for your friends.
Dinner is served.
